Knitting and Crochet Inspiration From The Runway Spring And Summer

Knitting and Crochet Inspiration From The Runway Spring And Summer

There’s something lovely about watching a knit or crochet stitch appear on a catwalk. Not as nostalgia. Not as irony. Just as something beautiful because of what it is. Texture as architecture. Stitch as silhouette.

Compared to last season, I had to look a little harder in the collections to find knit and crochet (and in true transparency, one or two of these looks are from SS25). But knitwear never really leaves the runway entirely. Somewhere in nearly every collection, a stitch shows up. And when it did appear this season, the runway leaned into crochet and knitwear with conviction.

I’ve been pulling together a small mood board of the pieces that stayed with me. Open-weave tops that let the light through like a window screen. Pieces that somehow feel both maximal and spare at the same time. Mesh seems to be everywhere this season. Maybe not the most wearable in its runway form, but easily adapted.

The point isn’t to recreate these looks exactly. Runway fashion works best when it suggests a direction, when it points toward a feeling.

Maybe you find a pattern that captures the spirit of something here. Maybe you draft your own. Consider this an invitation to do just that.
